What Shapes The Cost Of Your Care
Every quotation is personal, and four things shape it.
Visit Length
Visits from 15 minutes for a check in and medicines, up to a full hour or more.
Visits Per Week
From one visit a week to several visits a day, whatever your routine needs.
Level Of Support
Companionship, personal care, dementia support or palliative care at home.
Nights And Live In
Evening visits, waking nights, sleep ins and live in care are quoted separately.
The Four Main Ways Families Pay For Home Care
Many families are surprised to learn they may not have to pay the full cost themselves. Here is the honest picture in England.
Council Funded Care
Your local council must offer a free care needs assessment to anyone who appears to need care. If you qualify, a financial assessment follows. In England, savings and assets below £23,250 usually mean the council contributes to the cost.
Ask adult social care at Barking and Dagenham or Calderdale for a care needs assessment.
Direct Payments
If the council agrees to fund some of your care, you can ask for the money as a direct payment and choose your own provider, including us. You stay in control of who comes into your home.
We are happy to work with direct payments and personal budgets, and we can help you with the paperwork.
NHS Continuing Healthcare
People with significant ongoing health needs may qualify for NHS Continuing Healthcare, which can pay the full cost of care at home. Your GP, district nurse or hospital team can start the checklist.
We support families through assessments and work alongside NHS teams every week.
Paying Privately
Self funders get the same one fair price and the same written quotation. Benefits such as Attendance Allowance are not means tested and help many families with the cost of care at home.

Staying Home Is Often The Fairer Cost
For many people, a few visits a day at home costs less than a residential home, and you keep your own front door, your garden, your neighbours and your routine. For couples, home care avoids paying for two care home places.
